Classes will be streamed live every Thursday at 11am and again at 8pm.
I have wanted to combine my experience as a Yoga Instructor with my experience as an MLD (Manual Lymphatic Drainage) therapist for a couple of years now, but I never seemed to have the time to take it to the public, only giving tips and guidance to my own clients in my private clinic.
Enter a global pandemic – suddenly I find myself with the time to work on this project. And never have we needed it more!
Stress depletes the immune system, leaving us more vulnerable to the bugs that are doing the rounds. I’ve always described the lymphatic system as the engine of the immune system, as it’s plays a vital role in our body’s response to invaders such as viruses and bacteria, as well as waste management within the body. If you have a compromised lymphatic system, perhaps because some lymph nodes were removed as part of your cancer treatment plan, you may have noticed that swelling (or oedema) in the effected area increases, or flares up, in times of stress. Yep, it’s not just your imagination, it happens.
The right yoga class is a fantastic way to reduce stress, to calm the nervous system, and you guessed it… to boost your immune system. But what constitutes the right class?
Well, how does it sound to learn/practice yoga with an instructor with over 13 years of teaching experience, who also happens to be an MLD therapist with 12 years of experience? Someone who understands the complications of wearing compression garments. Someone who understands that increasing lymphatic flow is not enough – where is the lymph flowing to if you have lymph nodes missing from the body? Someone who understands how important deep diaphragmatic breathing is for your lymphatic system, and who understands that your body may feel a bit foreign to you right now.
